Richard Gere wants the circus from his kiss of Indian actress Shilpa Shetty to die.
An Indian judge issued a warrant for his arrest for the kiss for violating obscenity laws. Obscenity is illegal in India and apparently a public kiss is considered obsene in the Indian culture.
Gere said: There is a very small, right-wing, very conservative political party in India, and they are the moral police in India and they do this kind of thing quite often,” to Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” on Thursday.
“I don’t know that anyone has actually gone to jail, it has to go through a process. It goes to a reputable court, and they throw it out.”
Then he apologized for the incident and just wants it to die because it’s ridiculous and he’s sick the stupid kind of attention when he’s just trying to help India’s overwhelming AIDS problem.
